Mums never need a thank you, but it sure doesn't hurt to receive one!
Notably the celebration of all the work that goes into being a mother cannot be limited to just one day a year. In many parts of the world there are now discussions of developing a fair renumeration system for women engaged in running households and in childcare. Until such a system is successfully developed, we have the small gestures, the kind words, and the tokens of appreciation. Get your mum something she would love to have but would probably never indulge in because she's too busy putting everyone else's needs ahead of her own!
We've made you a list to make things a little easier:
Perfect for mums who like to dress up!
Just like a faithful friend who's always by your side when you need a sympathetic hug or a kind word, the Saheli too is companion for life. Fling it carelessly on the couch for a quick jazz up when friends turn up unannounced or throw it over an all white outfit when there's a sudden change of plans. It's compact enough to travel well but large enough to cover you from tip to toe when you need a place to hide. The Saheli has a decadent diamond weave of matka silk and linen with details of Klein blue that make it easy on the eye. It is effortlessly cool, and delicate without being fastidious. Can be used as a shawl as well as a throw for summers.
Sandook 01, 02 & 03
For the mums who love a good pitara!
Masters of frugality, mothers have long learnt the importance of archiving, storing and saving, from hand me down clothes to report cards and pictures of moments gone by. The Sandook boxes are a great way to safely store things that are close to the heart.
Available in 3 sizes.
Eye candy at its best, the Sandhya is for mums who love a bit of bling!
Casted in brass and polished to the colour of gold, the Sandhya candle can brighten up any shelf or table. We use a vegan wax blend of Coconut and soy and have developed a special fragrance of Summer Florals for our Mother's day edit.
This one's for mums who love their caffeine!
Its no secret that mums have long working hours, often waking up before the rest of the house and sleeping only when the day is truly done. When the lull sets in, they need a pick me up, and usually that comes with a ritual beverage drinking, which they hold very near to their hearts. For my mum it's her chai, that she drinks at 6.30 pm, perching on one corner of the bed, usually with a namkeen biscuit. Nobody in the house is allowed to use her chai mug, because it matters and we respect that. The Poush mug is that perfect beverage mug, holding 400 ml of liquid at a time, so mum can have as generous a serving as she likes!
Rasoi Knives Collection
For mums who should've been chefs because they have the skill and endurance to take on any professional kitchen!
The Rasoi knives are perfect assistants in the kitchen, easy to maintain and resharpen whenever they start to lose they edge. They're hand-forged steel made in Reha, Gujarat by blacksmiths who once made artillery for the Royal Family and fitting for the queen of our hearts and homes.
